Using AI to Bring Ideas to Life Through Images
One of the most interesting ways I’ve used AI is to turn ideas in my head into actual visuals. I’ve experimented with tools like Copilot, Gemini and ChatGPT to generate images based on things that are hard to describe, like tattoo concepts. Sometimes I’ll have a really specific image in mind, like a symbol or a design, but I can’t draw it myself. Being able to type out a description and see it come to life has been a game changer for me.
I’ve also used AI to recreate things I’ve seen in dreams or during meditation. There have been times where I remember a door, a place, or even a person, but only in pieces. Using AI prompting, I can describe those details and get an image that’s surprisingly close to what I saw in my mind. It’s not always perfect, but it helps put a visual to something that would otherwise just stay abstract. That alone has made the experience feel more real and easier to build on creatively.
Another way I’ve used these generated images is in games and storytelling. Once I have a visual, it becomes easier to build a character, setting, or even a full narrative around it. It adds depth to ideas that might have just stayed as rough concepts. In a way, the AI becomes a creative partner that helps fill in gaps and push ideas further than I would on my own.
One thing I’ve learned is that the quality of the image really depends on how detailed your prompt is. The more specific you are, the better the result. For example, one prompt I used in Copilot was: “A dark wooden door in the middle of a foggy forest, glowing faintly with blue symbols, cinematic lighting, highly detailed, realistic style.” The image that came back was actually really close to something I had pictured from a dream. Adding details like lighting, mood, and style makes a big difference.
My biggest tip would be to experiment and not expect perfection on the first try. Sometimes you have to tweak your prompt a few times to get what you’re looking for. Trying different tools also helps, since each one produces slightly different styles and results. Overall, using AI for image generation has been a really creative outlet for me, especially when it comes to visualizing ideas that don’t have an easy way to be drawn or explained.
