AI and its influence

As AI becomes more and more integrated with life many people are asking where is it all going and what is the end goal.  Will we end up like the population on the movie Wall-E or will it end up replacing humans in the work force.  Although we do not have a crystal ball that will show us the answers to these questions, after being introduced pretty heavily through my work with AI we will not be replaced any time soon. This relates to the PLN information for the week because I personally feel that the future of a PLN has to include AI but in a very specific way.  AI while a great tool is still just that a tool, it still needs wielded or prompted from a human.  In addition, it does attempt to give false data quite often that needs to be double checked by an actual human.  With that said it will help humans be more successful in their current roles.  How you ask?  Well, if you look at the basic human performance principle #1 Human are fallible even t...

Other Technology Posts

Good morning everyone, This week we’re diving into technology‑related blog posts, and I wanted to start by talking about what actually makes one engaging. The posts that really held my attention were the ones that took the time to clearly explain the technology they were discussing. For example, when someone talked about a computer‑based training (CBT) course and actually showed why it was engaging for the user, that pulled me in. For me, I need detailed information. If a post stays too general, I tend to tune out. A good example is when someone says, “Our program is amazing, 99% of our customers love it,” and then only talks about basic things like the interface. My first question is: where did that data even come from? Is it based on the experience of the person who built the program because they think it’s easy to use? Or is it coming from the actual users who are supposed to learn from it? Those are two very different things. We have plenty of programs that are efficient to bui...

An Introduction to the Journey.

Hello and Welcome to Insights about Training    Hello my name is Doug and I am currently the Human Performance Improvement Lead at the Advanced Test Reactor.  I am starting this blog for a few reasons the first is yes it is a class assignment and I much complete it if I would like to pass the class.  Now that is a good reason but it is not the only one, sometimes we get so wrapped up in life that we have a hard time reflection on our experience and really getting everything we can from what we went through. In this blog I will be talking about technology and training. As we go through this journey together we will be discussing all part of technology in training, the good...
