Other Technology Posts
Good morning everyone,
This week we’re diving into technology‑related blog posts, and I wanted to start by talking about what actually makes one engaging. The posts that really held my attention were the ones that took the time to clearly explain the technology they were discussing. For example, when someone talked about a computer‑based training (CBT) course and actually showed why it was engaging for the user, that pulled me in.
For me, I need detailed information. If a post stays too general, I tend to tune out. A good example is when someone says, “Our program is amazing, 99% of our customers love it,” and then only talks about basic things like the interface. My first question is: where did that data even come from? Is it based on the experience of the person who built the program because they think it’s easy to use? Or is it coming from the actual users who are supposed to learn from it? Those are two very different things.
We have plenty of programs that are efficient to build or manage, but that doesn’t automatically mean they add value for the user. When we evaluate technology, we need to look at everything the good, the bad, and the ugly. We have to understand the full life cycle and actually use feedback to decide whether something is giving us a real return on investment. And honestly, feedback is the step that gets skipped the most.
Thank you again for your time and attention,
From one nerd to another.... I absolutely want to know where they got their data and more information than the basic interface for any technology I am using. I routinely use the sandbox version of our registration system for my job, and watching some of their training videos on the functions they provide is painful to say the least. It covers the bare minimum and doesn't give much more than the underinformed manual they send out. I absolutely want to know what this is being used for and how the other colleges around me are using it to their benefit.
ReplyDeleteLora, Thank you for the comment I could not agree more, we continue to have someone in the company (No matter where I work) push down some new program that they do not understand but looked at what the company claimed and said "lets do that" then the other people are the ones that have to deal with the mess. Again thank you for your comment and glad I am not the only ones seeing the frustration.
