AI and its influence
As AI becomes more and more integrated with life many people are asking where is it all going and what is the end goal. Will we end up like the population on the movie Wall-E or will it end up replacing humans in the work force. Although we do not have a crystal ball that will show us the answers to these questions, after being introduced pretty heavily through my work with AI we will not be replaced any time soon. This relates to the PLN information for the week because I personally feel that the future of a PLN has to include AI but in a very specific way.
AI while a great tool is still just that a tool, it still needs wielded or prompted from a human. In addition, it does attempt to give false data quite often that needs to be double checked by an actual human. With that said it will help humans be more successful in their current roles. How you ask? Well, if you look at the basic human performance principle #1 Human are fallible even the best makes mistakes and speaking of that humans make an average of 5 to 7 mistakes per hour. Now if you use AI for some of those instances the chances of AI making that mistake drop drastically. This is where we can see huge human improvement from the use of AI.
I will say I am worried about the future of AI use; I know some people that use it and do not double check what AI says then sends out the data. We have to be careful of this and not stop actually thinking for ourselves again AI should be used as a tool and not a replacement. Thanks for reading.
Hey there! I was wondering where you were getting your information about AI. Yes, of course, we are all interacting with it on a regular basis these days. But was there anything out there on the Internet or in your workplace that is causing these viewpoints? A lot of people have negative viewpoints towards AI, and rightfully so. But if I’ve learned one thing in my time here at school, academics prefer sources. They harp into you to show how and where you got your ideas. So if there is anything in particular that is driving your beliefs, I would love to learn about it.

Also with Idaho National Labs we have dealt with AI as a major initiative for using in the workplace. We have had multiple classes, trainings, and experience in prompt entering. I also am part of a push to use AI to rewrite procedures into a human factored writing format. That is the main part of where the learning that AI makes stuff up. It referred to an INPO document in my testing and when I looked up the document it did not exist. So while some of the information is from classes and readings there is a lot of my information that is from personal experience.
Hi there!
ReplyDeleteI think your take on AI is very interesting and I can say I relate as well, as I have concerns about the environmental impact as well as it's impact on jobs. The company I work for is also pushing more and more for us to use AI and while I understand most of the WHYS of it's importance and also keeping up to date on technology usage, at times I miss the days everyone just relied on their brains. I could go on and on about opinions, concerns, other people's opinions about AI - it's just REALLY thrown a wrench in our lives. Thanks for the interesting topic!
